I think gfs/bfs count as partners. bffs have to fend for themselves. For fwbs, it depends on the bs. I’m not sure what All Wheel Drive has to do with this.

I don’t think I’ve even *made* a promise in the past ten years… for many of the reasons you describe above.

My rule with promises is there’s too much shit in life that can get in the way with keeping them. So my policy in general is never to make a promise unless it’s a life or death situation which truly compels you to keep it, or unless the promise can be almost immediately fulfilled.

Heinlein took a crack at this once. He kind of got stuck with the, I-traveled-into-the-future-last-week tense. “I was/will be bowling with my unborn grandson.”

Personally, I think it sounds better in German. “Mein liferaft ist voll von Aalen” … wait … Stupid dictionary! It’s better to use a ball anyway.

‘I-theism’ is a belief in the self as God. So being an Itheist, I am my own god. It’s been used for years, so I guess it can’t really be redefined.

An Atheist is not someone who knows about God and does not believe. It is someone without a belief in deity, not just the god with a capital G, but all gods. It’s not that an atheist knows of a god and chooses not to believe. Some would ssay atheists lack the cognitive faculty for delusion and therefore CANNOT believe in a god.

But really… what’s the point in arguing semantics? We could jst as easily rename atheist “someone who believes in what is real” and theist “someone who believes in the reality of fairy tales”.
