I Really, Really Love PETA

The charges: support terrorism, are deceptive, sexist, immoral, untactful, and extreme.

The response: extremity and terrorism are in how you look at it. If you believe what Bruce Friedrich, a PETA executive, said “If we really believe animals have the same right to be free from pain and suffering at our hands, then of course we’re going to be blowing things up and smashing windows. I think it would be great if all of the fast-food outlets, slaughterhouses, these laboratories, and the banks that fund them, exploded tomorrow,” then you understand our view. If not, you probably believe you’re superior to other animals. And while I don’t like destruction of property, in this case, I wouldn’t mind.

sexism and tactlessness are silly to me. I’m tactless all the time, and the sexism isn’t to demean women, it’s to entice men.. Besides, who are you to tell the models that they can’t accept their job?

Finally, the immoral and deceptive charges… Yeah, if they’re well-based, they’re damning. But, like the charges against Michael Moore, the alternative is a damning silence. Either you act immorally to try to change an immoral person to a moral person or you let them keep doing what you know to be wrong… It’s a fucked up choice, but I choose forcing people to realize the truth rather than letting them live causing death and torture for innocent beings..

p.s. Jewish groups have expressed outrage at PETA for taking what they claim to be an ambiguous moral stance on suicide bombings against Jews in the State of Israel. Specifically, in response to a news report in January of 2003 that a donkey was laden with explosives and intentionally blown up in a failed attack on a busload of Israeli soldiers in Jerusalem, PETA President Ingrid Newkirk sent then Palestinian Authority President Yasser Arafat a request that he “appeal to all those who listen to [him] to leave the animals out of this conflict.” However, Newkirk intentionally stopped short of asking Arafat to try to stop suicide bombings that kill people, later telling the Washington Post, “It is not my business to inject myself into human wars.”

Ha ha, I really, really, REALLY love PETA.
