I'm surprised you didn't hear about it, it was all over the Internet.

Nominations open for my Personal Person of the Year

Nominations are now open for my 2010 Person of the Year.  Usually these assignments are determined internally, but there’s not a very obvious candidate this year as there have been in years past. So I’m opening it to the general blog readership, which I’m guessing is now composed entirely of friends and the few most loyal freaders I made when I was an active blogger.

By the way, sorry about messing with the RSS feed. Feedburner, the old feed, and the new one should now all have the exact same content, but the last one will be the first one updated.

Your name will also be abbreviated
Most people I know would hate this done of them.

My Person of the Year is not necessarily an honor. Past winners have included crazy people, women that broke my heart, and people that didn’t give me the time of day. They’ve also included advisers, best friends forever, a mother, and a brother. The criterion is the same that Time magazine uses: I pick a person that would piss people off the most. Also, the person that, for better or for worse, has done the most to influence the events of the year.

I started this around the time I found out that I’d been awarded Time Magazine’s Person of the Year award in 2006.

Instead of posting a comment, I advise people to nominate themselves or others using my Contact page.

I’m going to get a perpetual plaque made at the end of this year and if your name is chosen, you’ll be one of the names on the plaque! (I’ve gotten really into awards since I realized you can just get them made for any reason. I even gave my BFF a BFF award to show she was my BFF.)
