Memory lane is a dead end

Apparently an Author Unknown

Today I ran into an old friend from middle and elementary school. To tell you how far back I know this guy, he was there for the first time anyone ever called me “Pixel Styx.” Granted, I’m sure he doesn’t remember (and neither would I had the nickname not found other fans later on). I hadn’t seen this cat since we were 12. In the decade since, he and his sister were two of the people I regretted losing contact with.

As I grow older, through chance, circumstance or stupidity, I lose contact with more and more people. Some of these people hang heavier in my conscience than others, usually the most interesting ones or most influential… or the ones I stupidly pushed away who I can never expect to forgive me.

This year I even made a resolution to stay in touch or get back in touch with my old friends.. So far, I’m way behind and am still missing some key people. So here goes nothing.

Since I’ve had the misfortune of people finding themselves on my blog before via a Google search (Six of these people, a girl whose car we T-P, My ex-boss, my first kiss), I thought I’d finally turn SEO to my benefit and list them here in hopes that these people eventually type their name into Google and contact me

*ahem!*

My list of where are they now.

  • Richard Archuleta, my first, second and third grade teacher at Chaparral Elementary School. I am who I am now thanks to (or because of) the positive influence he had on my life.
  • Cassandra Lynn Wolfe, whose oddness in sixth grade completely warped my understanding of normal social interactions. I eventually found her again, but– being an idiot– pushed her away.
  • Miranda Bruner, a four-year pen pal I stopped writing back to because I was ‘busy.’ *sigh*
  • Monica Sifuentes, high school BFF turned bite-sized acquaintance.
  • Moofruot, She’s back!
  • Dusty and Donna Sensiba, See this post.
  • Gordon Spurgeon, single-handedly the craziest person I’ve ever met.
  • Fran Fuller (O’Rourke), now she really is responsible for people calling me Pixel.
  • Jessica Kovac, she was really cool. I have no idea why she’s on the list, she just is.

The beauty of having a list like this is that nobody can feel bad for not being on it! It just means that they still have a form of contact with me.

Update: I just found Gordon on Myspace. I didn’t even think their search function worked and now I’ve found two people in one day!

Update: (8/27/2010) Maybe I should update this post. I’ve either made social network contact or gotten over most of these people. As I get older, I seem to look forward to losing contact with people. I hope this trend does not continue… at least not with all of them.
