My Lappy Broke :‘( …again

So I don’t break NaBloPoMo…

Almost exactly two years ago, I had my laptop break during finals. As you can imagine, it was bad. That post seems eerily appropriate now as my laptop turned off on me and refused to turn back on.

This means I can’t access my story to update my novel Web site and I might have lost some important stuff for my grad school applications. I’m going to go to the Apple store tomorrow in hopes that this is just a quick fix because I can’t afford to repair my laptop and there’s no way I can afford a new one.

… Also, it is near impossible to go back and type on a QWERTY keyboard after you’ve spent 3 months learning Dvorak.

What am I thankful for today? I am thankful for… my health. Sometimes I choose to disconnect, others I have it thrust upon me. But all things are important instrumentally and I’m glad it was something silly like my life’s work that shut down as opposed to something more basic like my life.

If that’s not the lesson here… I just don’t know why I bother learning anything at all! 🙂

  1. I’m stopping by on my way to commenting on as many NaBloPoMo blogs as possible as part of the NaBloPoMo commenting challenge. More information is available here – http://nablopomo.ning.com/group/commentingchallenge

I know what you mean about the laptop breaking down absolutely stinking. Mine broke over the summer – and this is totally my fault – after I had left it in the basement for about a month; it starts up, but doesn’t boot fully. I haven’t tried using it in a while; who knows, it might work again…

And I see you have some high quality sites on your blogroll 😉

PS – Your comment preview plugin is broken; you might want to consider going with something like Ajax edit comments; I know that I had the same issue occur when I was testing the comment preview thing, with the Database error messages.

edit to add – I see that you do have Ajax installed already; I think you can safely take off the preview plugin. 🙂

  2. Wow, here’s hoping they can just wave a magic wand and resuscitate it — that would be too, too evil to have a laptop explode on you right in the middle of November. Good luck!
